You can't beat a bank holiday - and this one ticked all the boxes. The weather was warm enough to follow up a long walk on Hampstead Heath with a drink in my local's beer garden but the highlight has to be lunch at the Ledbury.
The two michelin starred Notting Hill restaurant just got crowned one of the top 10 restaurants in the world and I went with a couple of friends on Saturday. We booked months ago and chose the set lunch menu which at £45 is way cheaper than the al a carte.
Ususally when we meet up it's for a BYOB curry and if I'm honest, the atmosphere was a tad quiet for our boisterous catch up but, but that meant we could focus more on the food. And just wow. It was incredible.
It began with canapes...
Bacon brioche |
And moved onto the starters...
Artichoke hearts, cured duck and fois gras shavings. |
Squid shavings, squid royale with radishes and squid ink. |
Quails egg, pea shoots and mushrooms |
And the lamb main...
Lambs shoulder, ewes milk and salt baked turnips |
Then pudding...
Salt caramel chocolate pudding |
I loved how delicate and beautiful everything looked on the plates, or, err... bark.
Petit Fours |
Full, we went for a waddle around Westbourne Grove and Notting Hill Gate. It's always nice to explore somewhere you wouldn't normally go in London and it looked great in the sunshine.
