The Well and Bucket

The Bar
The Well and Bucket has reopened again as a pub after 25 years and it's safe to say that Bethnal Green Road has never hosted a bar like this before. They have poshed up the pub experience with a huge square copper bar hosting a great line up of craft beers, from vegetarian Moor to lovely German wheat beers. It keeps it's East London cool enough with sliders and the mandatory Shoreditch 'distressed' look walls.

Sliders: beef cheek, beer chicken & ox-tail frankfurter

After sampling a few pints, we were hungry and ordered some excellent value sliders. You can pick any 3 for only 7.50. They were the best ones I've tasted with the trophy going to the ox-tail frankfurter, closely followed by the beef cheek. I think sliders work so much better than a big fat hefty burgers, especially when you need to leave space for beers.

If oysters weren't enough, The Well and bucket has an even more elegant side that I stumbled on when hunting for the loo... a downstairs cocktail bar. Low-lit and waitered by guys in waistcoats, it was eerily calm, compared to the beer guzzling upstairs.

The Well and Bucket has done very well. Lovely drinks and good food and now I know about the cocktail bar, I will obviously have to go back and give that a go.
